Heritage Walk, Mela mark Day 3 of Tawi Festival

JAMMU, Mar 3: The ongoing ‘Tawi Festival’ here today entered day 3 and on this occasion a heritage walk at Mubarak Mandi was organised at 8 am which saw participation of very few locals.
However, Kirpal Singh Dev along with INTACH Jammu Chapter volunteers managed the show under the aegis of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society.
Apart from this a Mela was also organised at the sprawling lawns of Amar Mahal where different stalls including that of Mahila Umang Society of Ranikhet, Calico Printing by Mansi’s Samba Sakhi, the one by two young entrepreneurs from Paper Baagco, Jammu-Sumedha and Priya and a stall by INTACH Jammu Chapter were established.
Apart from this there was also a stall by Jyoti Gupta with her clay studio which attracted crowd to have a firsthand experience of pottery.
The museum stall of souvenir items and books by Amar Mahal along with a stall of works carried out by the students of IMFA with art hut/Kala Mela and a stall by the students being trained by Sohan Billawaria, Master painter of Basohli Art under the aegis of Amar Mahal Museum & Library also attracted visitors.
Food stalls were also there by Rural Livelihood Mission which brought out authentic local cuisines from the kitchens of ladies from Samba, Kathua and Jammu.
Dr. Karan Singh, the royal scion of erstwhile J&K State and senior Congress leader who remained Sadr-i-Riyasat of erstwhile J&K State also visited the Mela along with Dr. Jyotsna Singh, Director Amar Mahal Museum and Library, Dr. Ritu Singh, Ajatshatru Singh, Ranvijay Singh and Martand Singh.
On this occasion the crowd was enthralled with the Dogri play ‘Gatt’ staged by Natrang, directed by Balwant Thakur wherein the young artists made the festival more vibrant and colourful.
