Heroin, illicit liquor seized

KATHUA, Apr 7: Continuing its drive against the drug peddlers, bovine smugglers and brewing of illicit liquor, Kathua police today seized five grams of heroin like substance and seized 15 liters of illicit liquor.
As per reports district police Kathua today recovered Heroin like substance in the jurisdiction of Kathua Police Station (PS) and arrested the accused besides seizing the contraband.
A team of Police Station Kathua under the supervision of SHO, Vijay Sharma during naka checking duty at Bhagthali, noticed a suspicious person. He was stopped for checking. Sensing danger, he tried to escape but was nabbed by the police party on duty.
On his Physical search, approximately five grams of Heroin like contraband was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Mir Ali of Devi Chack.
A case FIR No. 160/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered in the concerned Police Station and further investigation is under process.
Meanwhile, continuing its drive against illicit liquor sale in the district and to take stringent action against production of illegal liquor menace, police team of Kathua Police Station (PS) under the supervision of SHO, Vijay Sharma in its jurisdictional area near Chack Drab Khan apprehended one person namely Arjun Kumar son of Ashok Kumar of Chack Drab Khan tehsil and district, Kathua. During his checking, approximately 15litres of illicit (desi) liquor was recovered from his possession.
He was arrested on spot and the illicit liquor was seized by the police. A case vide FIR No 161/2021 U/S 48 (A) Excise Act has been registered in the concerned Police Station and further investigation is going on. It may be recalled that Kathua Police on the directives of SSP Romesh Kotwal and under the supervision of DySP, Bisham Dubey has tightened its noose on drug peddlers, illicit liquor menace, smugglers and anti social elements.
The police has also sought the cooperation of general public in this regard and urged them to inform it against the people indulging in any unlawful activity in the district.
