Heroin, poppy straw seized; 2 drug peddlers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: In two separate cases, Udhampur Police today recovered six grams of contraband heroin like substance and poppy straw besides arresting the accused in both the cases.
A Police patrolling party of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, under the supervision of S Gurmeet Singh, DySP Hqrs, intercepted a suspicious person who was on his own way from Sallian Talab area towards main bazar Udhampur on foot.
On frisking of the said person, namely Sunil alias Billa , son of Hem Raj of Shakti Nagar, Udhampur, Police recovered six grams of heroin like narcotic substance from his possessions.
The accused was arrested on the spot while a case FIR number 207/2023, under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Udhampur.
Continuing its campaign against drugs and narcotics, Udhampur Police also seized 21 kg of poppy straw at Jakhani checking point (NHW) .
The poppy straw was being smuggled a truck bearing registration number PB35Z-0430 , which was intercepted when it was on way from Kashmir valley towards Udhampur. During checking, Police team recovered 21 kg of poppy straw and arrested driver of the truck, identified as Bakshish Singh, son of Baljeet Singh of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
In this connection, a case FIR number 205/2023, under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
