Heroin seized, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 29: In a major success, Udhampur Police today foiled a narcotic smuggling bid and seized 125 grams of Heroin besides arresting two narcotic smugglers.
The narcotics was being smuggled by the accused in a Maruti Swift car, which was intercepted by a Police Party of Rehambal at Flata Chowk, Udhampur.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey said that during checking of vehicles by a police party led by SHO Rehambal, Insp Ajay Bhat, under the supervision of Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur and Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, a Maruti Swift car bearing registration number DL8CW 0918 was intercepted.
During search, 125 grams of Heroin (Chitta) was recovered from possession of the two persons, travelling in the car. Police seized the Heroin and arrested both the accused, identified as Riyaz Ahmed son of Abdullah Bhat of Dodla Bhoond, District Kathua A/P Udhampur and Sohail Ahmed son of Ab Rashid of Sopore, District Baramulla.
In this connection, a case FIR number 74/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Rehambal and further investigation of the case is taken up.
