JAMMU, July 26: Bahu Fort Police seized heroin worth Rs 24 crore probably dropped by drones and Rs 11 lakh cash and arrested three persons.
Divulging the details, ADGP Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh said that on specific information a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari, SP South Mamta Sharma and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli laid a naka and intercepted a Verna car bearing registration number PB02CQ-7749.
“During checking, police team recovered 12 kilograms heroin worth Rs 24 crore in the international market and Rs 11 lakh cash and arrested three persons travelling in the car”, ADGP said, adding that the arrested persons were identified as Sarvwan Singh, son of Kala Singh, Malkeet Singh, son of Gurmeet Singh and Balbir Singh, son of Balbinder Singh, all residents of Amritsar Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 197/2022 under section 8/21/22/27/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Singh said that Jammu Police is working tirelessly to uproot the chain of drug supply in the region.
“Thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs taking into account both the forward as well as backward linkages. From the packing material of the drugs, it appears to have been dropped by drones. Further details will be available after detailed interrogation”, Singh added.
