JAMMU, Dec 6: Home Guards and Civil Defence (HG/CD) J&K celebrated its 56th Annual Raising Day at SDRF 2nd Battalion Headquarters here.
The day was celebrated under the supervision of Commandant General of HG/CD and SDRF J&K VK Singh and Additional Director General of Police HG/CD and SDRF J&K Munir Ahmed Khan. Ranjit Kanwar (SSP) Incharge Deputy Inspector General Home Guards/Civil Defence Jammu, Anita Pawar (DySP), Naseem Akhter (DySP) SO to DIG HG/CD Jammu, CD Wardens/Volunteers of Jammu, officers and officials of SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu and number of Civil Defence wardens, volunteers and Home Guards volunteers of Jammu were also present. At the outset, Hafizullah DySP of SDRF 2nd Battalion Jammu welcomed the guests and invited Ranjit Kanwar to convey the message to the participants.
While speaking on the occasion, Ranjeet Kanwar elaborated the need and purpose for creation of Home Guards and Civil Defence to act as first responder of natural and manmade disasters. He also readout the greeting messages received from Governor Satya Pal Malik, Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar, Chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Principal Secretary Home Department RK Goyal IAS, Commandant General HG/CD and SDRF J&K VK Singh IPS and DGP Dilbag Singh on the eve of 56th Raising Day of HG/CD.
