JAMMU, Mar 13: CSIR- Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM) Jammu today started a week long high-end workshop under the theme “Hands-on Workshop on Laboratory Animal Techniques for Preclinical Research”.
The workshop sponsored by Department of Science & Technology – Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India as part of Accelerate Vigyan, was inaugurated by Director CSIR-IICT Hyderabad and CSIR-IIIM Jammu, Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, who was the chief guest on the occasion. Abdul Rahim, Head RMBD&IST was guest of honour.
Dr D Srinivasa Reddy, in his address, said that the drug development is very important and critically required to meet the needs of mankind. He said the workshop on Laboratory Animal Techniques for Preclinical Research would surely be beneficial and improvise the skill of researchers working in pre-clinical drug development. During the inaugural session, a handbook on Laboratory Animal Techniques for Preclinical Research was also released.
Earlier Dr Zabeer Ahmed, Chief Scientist and Head Pharmacology Division, informed that the curriculum of workshop has been design after taking due care about the various requirements of researchers.
Dr Boobalan Gopu, Scientist and Co-ordinator of the Workshop while speaking on the occasion discussed the sub-areas to be covered by the guest speakers and various components to be taught during hands on training.
Pertinently, the Accelerate Vigyan Schemes provides young potential researchers, an opportunity to learn hands on high end scientific research in premier institutions and empower them the requisite skill for undertaking future research assignment.
Dr Anindiya Goswami, Dr Tasduq Abdullah and Dr PN Gupta (Senior Principal Scientists), Dr M Jamal Dar, Dr Govind Yadav and Dr Ajay Kumar (Principal Scientists), Dr Utpal Nandi and Dr Sreedhar Madishetti, (Senior Scientists), Dr Ramanjayan Pandian (Scientist), Asha Bhagat (Principal Technical Officer), Dr Sanket Shukla (Senior Technical Officer and Bhavna Vij (Technical Officer) were present on the occasion.
Dr Shashank Singh (Senior Principal Scientist) presented the vote of thanks while as Dr Gurleen Kour (Scientist) conducted the proceedings.
