JAMMU, Nov 21: Minister for CAPD & Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan convened 2nd consecutive meeting of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Department and J&K State Road Transport Corporation in his office chamber in which the officers of Oil Marketing Corporation and FCI also participated.
Besides taking review of stock and supply items being provided by the CAPD Department under PDS, the position of rice, sugar and wheat at FCI godowns was also reviewed.
The availability of gas in buffer and distribution through various gas distribution agencies in nook and corner of the state was also reviewed.
The Minister issued strict instructions for ensuring sufficient number of trucks for lifting of food grains to Doda and Kishtwar districts on war footing basis keeping in view the inaccessibility of these areas in winter months which has already set in.
The Minister also asked Oil Marketing Corporation that buffer stocks of LPG gas should be made available at Srinagar for Kashmir province and all inaccessible areas of Jammu division keeping in view the bad weather conditions and expected heavy snowfall in these areas in the coming months.
The Minister after receiving various complaints about the malfunctioning of certain gas agencies across the Srinagar, Jammu and other districts has taken a strong note of their high handedness and directed that stern action as warranted under different provisions of law will be initiated including initiation of penal proceedings against them and seizure of their business points. He also instructed the representatives of the respective oil marketing corporations to immediately take these erring gas distributing agencies to task and cancel their license and ensure that the consumers are not put to any unnecessary trouble.
The Minister further instructed that strict vigil under Gas Control Act be maintained on black marketing and hoarding of LPG Gas.
