High speed truck with bovines breaks naka, skids off road

KATHUA, Apr 3: In a bizarre act a high speed truck laden with 10 bovine animals tried to break the police Naka at Londi More, the border point of Kathua -Samba districts skidded of the road resulting in on spot death of four buffalos and injury to six others.
However, the driver and other inmates of the truck managed to escape.
The police men on duty seeing that the truck was in high speed and it was going to break the naka ran helter -skelter to save themselves from being run over by it.
Soon after the incident the police party of the naka informed Police Station, Hiranagar where from a police team rushed to the spot and seized the truck and took the bovines in its custody. The injured animals were later taken to veterinary for treatment.
The Hiranagar Police has registered a case and started investigations. However no arrest was made so far.
According to reports the bovine smugglers were being taken from Punjab to Kashmir.
It may be recalled the bovine smugglers have crossed the nakas at Lakhanpur and Rajbagh before the accident at Londi.
In last couple of days police in Kathua and Samba district have seized a large number of bovine animals but the smugglers mange to escape giving police a slip. Reports said that the vehicles carrying the bovine smugglers are escorted by one or two more vehicles and in case the vehicles carrying the bovines are intercepted by police, smuggles manage to escape in the escorting vehicles giving police a slip.
