Shimla: The higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, namely Shimla, Lahaul Spiti and Chamba district on Thursday experienced fresh snowfall and streams were lashed by rain fall as the weather was mainly overcast in the state.
The tourist resorts of Narkanda & Hatu peak of Shimla district, Rohtang Pass, Lady of Keylong and the higher reaches of Seven sister’s hill of Dalhousie experienced light to moderate spell of fresh snowfall.
Met Office recorded six cm snowfall at Keylong, headquarter of Lahaul Spiti, Gondola five cm, Kothi and Khadrala in Shimla three cm each and Kalpa 1.4 cm.
Due to the frequent spell of snow at the tourist resort Narkanda road was partly disrupted. Various parts of the states were lashed by rain. Gohar in Mandi got 24.4 mm rain, Jogindernagar 23 mm,Palampur 11 mm, Manali 10.5 mm, Seobagh in Kullu eight mm and Bijahi in Mandi 7.2 mm, Mandi six cm, Bhuntar in Kullu five mm,Solan, Una and Kangra one mm.
Police sources said that phone services are out in Kupvi and Nankhari of Shimla district. Minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 6.4 degrees and degree degrees below normal, Kalpa in Kinnuar minus 0.2 degrees, Kufri and Dalhousie zero degrees, Manali 1.4 degrees, Shimla 4.7 degrees Palampur 6.5 degrees and Bhuntar 7.3 degrees. Dharmshala has 7.6 degrees, Solan 8.5 degrees, Sundernagar 8.7 degres , Kangra 9.6 degrees , Una and Mandi 11.6 degrees each, Hamirpur 12 degrees and Nahan in Sirmaur and Bilaspur 12.5 degrees. Warning of heavy rain with thunderstorm accompanied by lighting, hailstorm and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 km are likely to occur in mid and high reaches on March five and six in the state Met Office forecasts light to moderate rain, thundershowers with the possibility of hailstorms are very likely to occur in the districts Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu and Chamba district in the next 24 hrs .
