SRINAGAR:The national highway, connecting the Ladakh region with the Kashmir valley reopened this afternoon after remaining closed since this morning due to landslides, triggered by heavy rains. A traffic police spokesman told UNI this afternoon that traffic was resumed on the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh National Highway this afternoon after the landslides were cleared by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
However, he said, only light vehicles were allowed to ply. He said vehicles at different places across the Zojila pass were allowed to move towards Kashmir valley. Later, vehicles from here will be allowed to move towards Kargil as only one-way is allowed on Zojila pass.
Decision to allow heavy vehicles will be taken later when the BRO fully clear the landslides on the road. (AGENCIES)
