BILLAWAR, Mar 5: Former minister, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today alleged that majority of people from hilly areas of district Kathua are deprived of basic amenities by the UT Administration.
Former MLA from Billawar who concluded his extensive tour of remote areas of Billawar constituency including Marhoon, Dehota, Dhar Dugnoo in Baggan Block today said that during his visit the major public grievances which came to his notice include up-gradation of High School Deohota to Higher Secondary level, electrification of villages Thingan, Khilbhatar, Lower Bakali, road connectivity to Panchayat Deohota under PMGSY, Medical facility in Deohota by ensuring Primary Health Centre. Locals also resented shortage of teaching staff/teachers in Primary School Thingan, Upper Primary School Bagali, High School Deohota, Upper Primary School Garoli and Upper Primary School Kantha.
The people also alleged poor water supply to whole village Deohota, sought construction of motorable bridge over Nallah Bhini between Thamnal Baggan and Dehota for shortest connectivity. Irregular supply of Govt ration was also major concern in villages of these Panchayats and establishment of Ration Depots there. In addition to this, poor mobile connectivity was also discussed and in one voice appealed Govt of India to install mobile towers in these Panchayats. Population of this village is about 4000 and this whole area spread over 20 km is very tough hilly terrain.
Manohar Lal said that BJP Government failed to redress grievances and sufferings of the people living in far- flung areas and people of these areas were made to suffer for all basic services. He said the BJP Government was unaware of the problems and issues of the people in the rural area and did not take any step to mitigate the same during their tenure. He said BJP was responsible for deteriorating situation in J&K.
EX-MLA Billawar alleged that communication gap between citizens and the UT administration was biggest hurdle in the process of development and largely remained unaddressed. There is strong resentment against BJP Govt for the attitude of total neglect of the area. Majority of the people are poor and deprived of the basic amenities. Poor road network, lack of drinking water and power supply, poor health care facilities, shortage of doctors, severe shortage of ration, non-availability of teachers in schools are the issues being confronted by the hapless public.
