RAMBAN, Mar 17: BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh today lambasted the successive Governments for the condition of hilly areas which remain still under-developed even after 66 years of independence.
While addressing election meetings and road-shows along the National Highway at Ramban and Batote, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is appalling that on travelling just a few kilometres away from the National Highway, one comes across townships and villages which don’t have proper road connectivity and are deprived of basic amenities like water supply and electricity.
If voted to power, Dr Singh said, the BJP led Government at the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi will expedite the work on “Prime Minister Sadak Yojna” which was initiated during the tenure of the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Urging the people to vote for BJP, Dr Jitendra Singh said, a BJP MP from the Constituency will be able to serve as spokesman of this remote region in the highest forum of Parliament.
He also referred to the misery caused as a result of two decades of militancy in the area and promised to take up the cause of VDCs and PSOs. It will be our earnest effort to bring the fruits of global development to the remotest of remotest areas, he added,
District Ramban Prabhari Arun Chibber, Distt president, Vijay Mohan Thakur, Ramesh Sharma, Sham Singh Katoch, Rajiv Charak, Neelam Langeh, Shashi Goswami, among others, attended the election meetings.
