Himachal’s high reaches receive fresh snowfall; cold wave intensifies

SHIMLA, Oct 9: High reaches of Himachal Pradesh received fresh snowfall and rain on Wednesday, intensifying the cold wave conditions in parts of the hilly state.
The South West Monsoon and western disturbances have kept the weather inclement in the state.
Snowfall was recorded in the mountain ranges of Lahul-Spiti, Kullu, Kinnaur and Chamba districts. Due to this, there has been a sharp drop in temperature and the valley has once again been in the grip of cold.
Light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms was also witnessed in some regions.
The early winter and snowfall further dip down the day and night temperature by few notches including tourist resort Dalhousie, which filled the faces of tourists with joy.
Keylong, the headquarters of Lahul-Spiti, was the coldest place in the state with a minimum temperature of 2.9 degrees Celsius recorded on Wednesday. In Kinnaur district high reaches like Kinner and Shrikhand, Kailash and Chhitkul — the last bordering villages also received snowfall.
The winter capital headquarters of the state, Dharamshala, received rainfall during the day, while Baijnath experienced hail. Similarly, capital Shimla also experienced rainfall. (UNI)
