JAMMU, Jan 31: At a cultural event organized by Kashmiri Hindu Sabha in Pune, Theatre group ‘Vomedh Rang Manch’ staged Hindi Play ‘Ek Aur Birbal’ written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat and directed by Rohit Bhat.
The play ‘Ek Aur Birbal’ highlighted the plight of Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) during the rule of Afghan Durrani in 1812 AD and the bravery displayed by Pt. Birbal Dhar by bringing in Sikhs under Maharaja Ranjeet Singh’s rule to end Afghan domination of Kashmir.
While the play delves deep into the arrival of Islamic rule into Kashmir it also depicts the miseries of KPs after Kota Rani lost the battle and talks about the six forced migrations of KPs that took place since then.
Actors who performed in the play were Arvin Tickoo, Shazi Kahn, Irfan Choudhary, Himagini Moza, Ajay Kumar, King C Bharati, Kamakshya Dogra, Shashank Singh Rajput, Irfana Bano Mir, Vishal Hans and Manoj Dhamir.
Narration was given by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Lyrics by Rakesh Roshan Bhat, Singer and Composer was Arvind, Makeup was done by Shammi Dhamir, Music was arranged by Abhishek Bharti, Lights were managed by Adhitya Bharti, Costumes were designed by Suman Bhat Bharti Kaul, Host was Bindiya Tickoo and Sushma Kumari also contributed.
