JAMMU, June 12: Sangam Theatre Group Reasi today staged Hindi play ‘Kabuli Wala’ at Harman Dance & Educational Social Trust today.
The play was originally written by Rabindra Nath Tagore and directed by M. Akram Khan and was financially supported by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
Gurvinder Kour, National Secretary Dance & Sports was the chief guest on this occasion while J.R Sharma renowned Chereographer presided over the function.
The play revolves around a Pathan—Abdul Rehman popularly known as ‘Kabuli Wala’ who comes to sell dry-fruits and passes by Babu’s house who is a writer and has daughter Mini.
‘Kabuli Wala’ visits Writer and develops emotional attachment with Mini as his own daughter at his home in Kabul was like her.
Kabuli Wala also sells shawls and blankets and he sold some shawls to a shopkeeper on credit under the promise that the shopkeeper would pay back the money to him but shopkeeper refuses to do so when time comes and Kabuli Wala kills him after which police arrests him and jails him for 10 years.
After coming out of the jail he comes to see Mini but she does not recognizes Kabuli Wala.
Actors who acted in the play were Hargun Kour, Rajesh Ajnabi, Manya Sharma, Akram Khan, Joginder Singh, Arzoo Sharma, Rashad Khan, Keshvin Kour and Gurav Bharti.
Music was given by Dharminder Rathore, Set was designed by Raja Aamir, Makeup was done by Akram Khan, Lights were designed by Rajesh Ajnabi, Costumes by Anam Khan and Photography was done by Parshotam Kumar.
