Hiranagar College takes out rally on Biodiversity Conservation

KATHUA, Aug 8: Government Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar today conducted a plantation drive and also took out a rally on the theme “Biodiversity Conservation” in collaboration with World Wide Fund for Nature, J&K.
Some important medicinal plants like Chandan, (Santalum Sps), Rudraksh, (Aegle Sps) Bil-Patri (Cinnamom Sps) Tej Patta, Timbru, Elaichi and some ornamental plants like Euphorbia Sps were planted in the college premises.
Professor K C Badgal, Principal of the college briefed the students about the importance of plants. He described the “Trees as the lungs of the society”.
Later, a rally was also taken out from the college campus which culminated at the Hiranagar Morh. The objective of the rally was to spread awareness among the common masses about the degrading biodiversity and its conservation.
The whole event was organized under the supervision of Professor Vijay Kumar Chandan, Head, Department of Botany and Dr Deepshikha Sharma, Head, Department of Environment Sciences.
