LEH, Feb 9: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) here today termed the granting of Divisional Status to Ladakh region with its headquarter at Leh as a historic decision of PM, Modi and Governor, Satya Pal Malik.
At a function in BJP office Leh, District BJP President, Dorje Angchok claimed that Ladakh has finally freed from Kashmir Division.
“This was a longstanding demand of the people of Ladakh region as discrimination was meted out to them by the successive governments,” he further said.
He claimed that there is now a wave of happiness across Ladakh region due to this development which came few days after the visit of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Ladakh.
“Now we can call the State as Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh just as how tree strips on the State flag represents three different regions,” he maintained.
He added that Divisional Status to Ladakh means a lot to the government employees and police personnel hailing from Ladakh as they will no more have to get transferred to the valley.
MLC Chering Dorje also expressed similar views.
