JAMMU, Mar 27: Member Central Waqf Council (CWC) & Chairperson Waqf Development Committee of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), Dr Darakhshan Andrabi informed that new initiatives taken by CWC have resulted in the positive changes in implementation of Government schemes in the country.
Addressing a press conference at New Delhi today Andrabi presented a complete sketch of welfare and empowerment schemes of MoMA.
She was accompanied by CWC Member, Haji Qari Haroon.
“Unlike our predecessors, we have focused on the welfare at ground level so that minorities in India are empowered educationally and economically,” Andrabi said adding that minorities in India have been exploited for decades for political agendas but historical decisions of Modi Government are empowering these exploited minorities.
She claimed that MoMA under the guidance of concerned minister, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi works on a clear and transparent roadmap for minority welfare in India.
Andrabi further said that Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Scheme, Maulana Azad National Fellowship Scheme, Free Coaching and Allied Scheme for students belonging to Minority Communities, Scheme of Interest Subsidy on Educational Loans for Overseas Studies for the Student belonging to Minority Communities and Scheme Supporting Minority Students clearing Prelims conducted by UPSC etc are potent tools for educational empowerment of minorities in India.
“For economic empowerment Central Government is running Skill Development Programme Seekho aur Kamao (Learn & Earn), Scheme for upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts & Crafts for Development etc exclusively for minorities,” she maintained mentioning about the programmes for infrastructural development of minorities and other schemes.
Andrabi said that while devising these welfare programmes, the ministry has taken cue from Sachar Committee report.
