JAMMU, Jan 2: Police in Sainik Colony area here claimed to have solved a hit-and-run case.
A police spokesperson said that information was received at Police Post Sainik Colony through reliable sources that a truck (K05A-6786) injured a person, identified as Ankit Kumar of Ramnagar near Sainik Colony.
He said some locals shifted the injured person to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 185/2023 under section 279 and 304A of the IPC was registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started.
During investigation, the police spokesperson said that teams of Police Post Sainik Colony led by incharge Police Post Sainik Colony arrested the accused driver of the truck identified as Mohammad Ishaq Rather of Verinag, Qazigund.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he added.
