JAMMU, Aug 2: Police in Jammu’s Pacca Danga area claimed today that they have solved a hit-and-run case within 24 hours of registering the FIR.
A police official said on August 1, 2024, two persons travelling to Jammu from Nagrota on a motorcycle were hit by an unknown vehicle near Manda Zoo.
This collision resulted in the death of the pillion rider, identified as Parvinder Kumar, son of Kali Dass of Ban Batehra, on-the-spot, and injuries to the motorcycle rider, he said.
The police official said following the incident, the accused fled from the scene, leaving the dead and injured on the road.
Consequently, an FIR number 83/2024 under sections 281/125(a)/106 BNS was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga, and an investigation began, he said.
During the investigation, a team from Police Station Pacca Danga, led by SHO Inspector Rakesh Singh and supervised by SDPO City and SP City, traced and seized a bus (JK02AE-6053) and arrested the accused driver, identified as Rakesh Singh of Chulna, Udhampur, added the police official.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
