Srinagar, May 5: Security forces today busted an Over Ground Worker (OGW) module of Hizbul Mujahideen, who were involved in several militancy related incidents in the area including weapon snatching.
Army’s 62 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police busted the module of three OGW’s of Hizb, who were involved in number of militancy activities and planning to snatch weapon from Security forces and luring youth into militancy.
The members of the module, who were arrested include Akeel Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Rashid Malla of Reshipora Hermain, Asif Abdullah Wagay son of Mohammad Abdullah Wagay of Reshipora Hermain and Amir Hussain Ganie son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie of Check Cholena.
The module developed contact with active Hizbul Mujahideen militants Gayas-Ul-Islam Thoker, Abass Bhat and Ishfaq Ahmad Thoker of Shopian and met the militant group at various places including Mantribugh, Hermain and Chakoora and plan to carry out subversive activities.
“The module was provided with one pistol and 3 grenades to carry out activities and snatch weapon so as to join militancy. All the 3 OGWs went to Kulgam Bus Stand to lob the grenade but did not find any deployment of security forces there. Thereafter they tried to do same activity at Anantnag Bus Adda, Railway Station Anantnag and Police Post Behibagh but could not execute the plan”, the police officer said.
The module was is also involved in pasting of election boycott posters in Reshipora and Hermain areas. A Motor bike (Passion Pro) belong to Akeel Ahmad used in the commission of their activities at many places has been seized. Muneeb-Ul-Islam and Asif Ahmad also went together to Chadoora in Budgam and indulged into the stone pelting which took place at Chadoora on March 28 this year at encounter site.
Shopian police while monitoring their activities found the link of Akeel with militants and thereafter in a chain of events others were also arrested. Three Chinese grenades were recovered at their instance from an orchard at Hajipora. In this connection, a case FIR No. 91/2017 U/S 7/25 A.Act, 39 ULA(P) Act has been registered in police station Shopian and investigation taken up.
One of their associates Muneeb-Ul-Islam son of Ghulam Hassan Malla of Reshipora Hermain was arrested by Anantnag Police and other associate namely Owais Ahmad alias Raja of Meshipora is absconding.
