HM module busted, 3 militants flee

SRINAGAR, Aug 8: Police today busted a module of Hizbul Mujahideen in Kreeri area of Baramulla district by arresting its three members and a Hizb commander and his two associates fled from a cordon in Pulwama district of South Kashmir after a brief gun battle.
Police said that assisted by Army’s 29 RR and CRPF on a specific information laid a joint checkpoint at Behrampora Tilgam crossing in district Baramulla and apprehended 3 suspected persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Waseem Ahmed Mir, Umer Hassan Rather and Hussain Rather. Police said that 2 Chinese pistols along with ammunition was recovered from their possession. “On sustained questioning, the trio admitted that they are working for Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit and motivating young boys into militancy”, said police.

“These individuals have been long time conduits of terrorists in North Kashmir playing a major role in enticing young boys to join militancy. This network was being spearheaded by Hizbul Mujahideen commander Parvez Wani alias Mubashir,” said police.
Police said that this network of these militants have been not only luring young boys to join militancy but also providing all logistic support to militants in the Andergam Pattan and Sopore areas.
“In this regard Case FIR No 57/2017 under Sections of 13 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, [ULA (P) Act] has been registered in Police Station Kreeri and further investigation is going on,” police said.
“Though there are unabated attempts by such elements to disturb peace and order in the area by way of recruiting young boys to militancy, all such efforts have been thwarted by Police and security forces so far”, Police said.
Police said that busting of the module was part of continuous efforts to foil the designs of “terror elements to build a terror infrastructure to lure young boys to militancy”.
Police appealed parents and conscientious citizens to come forward and help them and security forces to prevent such vulnerable youngsters falling prey to militant designs being lured to killing fields.
And Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sameer Tiger along with his associates fled from cordon in Drubgam village of Pulwama last night.
Three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen including Tiger fired at the troops of 44 RR of Army and Pulwama Police as they laid cordoned around Drubgam village last night. The militants, who were hiding in a house, fired on troops during searches leading to a gun battle but they managed to escape.
Security forces later cordoned off the entire villages and conducted house to house searches. The operation continued till 9 a.m today but was called off.
In the meantime, Police and Army have launched hunt to trace an injured militant in Pulwama. Reports said that a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba, Ayub Lone alias Ayub Lelhari was injured during an encounter in Samboora village in Pampora area two days ago. One Pakistani militant was killed but Ayub and his associate managed to escape from the cordon but he was injured.
Security forces yesterday cordoned off Pahoo, Bougam Kakapora and Pinglana village to trace out the injured militant. The hunt to trace out him continued today.
