H&ME releases Rs 11 cr for NAM, strengthening Medical Colleges

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: The Health & Medical Education (H&M) Department has released over Rs 11 crores under two Centrally sponsored schemes, including the National Ayush Mission and Phase-II of strengthening the State Medical Colleges to increase the PG seats.
The funds released are meant for utilization during the financial year 2023-24 and have been placed at the disposal of Director Ayush J&K for use under the National Ayush Mission and SKIMS, Srinagar, for use under ‘Strengthening and up-gradation of State Government Medical Colleges to increase PG Seats, Phase-II.’
H&ME, in this regard, issued an order for the release of over Rs 4 crore and six lakh as grant-in-aid, released by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme “National AYUSH Mission (NAM),” and its placement at the disposal of Director Ayush, J&K, Jammu.
Concerning the other Centrally sponsored scheme aimed at strengthening the existing medical colleges to increase the PG seats, the H&ME has sanctioned the release of Rs 7 crore under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, “Strengthening and up-gradation of State Government Medical Colleges to increase PG Seats, Phase-II,” in favor of Director Finance, Health & Medical Education Department, for further placement at the disposal of SKIMS, Srinagar, for the utilization of funds during the current financial year.
As per the breakup, over 5 crores have been released for the General Component, 1 crore 12 lakh for the SC component, and Rs 70 lakh for the ST component.
The release of funds has been made subject to several conditions, including that the expenditure must strictly follow the classification under which funds have been authorized by the Finance Department.
