Srinagar, May 24: The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) has come under scrutiny after including the name of a suspended doctor in a list of individuals it sought to repatriate from the Jammu division.
The Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department has intervened in this regard, seeking an explanation from the DHSK and directing disciplinary action against the doctor in question.
According to an official order issued today in this regard, the H&ME Department stated, “It is, hereby, ordered that the details/particulars of Dr Arshad Hussain Wani, Medical Officer indicated at S.No. 52 in Government Order No. 367-JK(HME) of 2023 dated 29.04.2023 issued by the Health & Medical Education Department vide endorsement No. HD-Gaz0Gen/420/2023-02 shall and shall always be deemed to have been deleted ab-inito from the purview of aforesaid Government Order.”
The order also mentioned that the doctor, who is currently under suspension, will remain attached to the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir until further notice.
The H&ME Department has demanded an explanation from the Director of Health Services, Kashmir as to why Dr Arshad Hussain Wani’s name was included in the proposal submitted to the Administrative Department, despite the doctor’s suspension under Government Order No. 183-HOME) of 2023 dated 02.03.2023.
The department has instructed the Director to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the suspended doctor without delay, under the applicable rules.
