SAMBA, Oct 13: District Development Council (DDC) Member, Ramgarh and president J&K Sir Chhotu Ram Jat Sabha, Sarabjeet Singh Johal has asserted that the positive gesture by the Home Minister, Amit Shah towards the demand of OBC status to Jats has rekindled hope among the community and all are anticipating an early decision.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Johal said that during his recent meeting with Amit Shah, many significant issues with regard to Jat community and Sikhs were discussed in detail besides the problems of the locals in the constituency. He said that the Home Minister was apprised about the plight of Jat community members and his response was full of warmth. He said that the demand of PoJK refugees for the remaining amount of Rs 25 lakh as one time settlement was also raised in the meeting while thanking him for granting the first installment of Rs 5.5 lakh to all refugees.
Johal said that the purpose behind this presser was to inform the community members about the latest developments on the issues which they were confronting and the pro-people policies of BJP Government which provided the succour of Rs 5.5 lakh to displaced families as the same was denied by all the successive governments in the past.
The DDC Member said that on behalf of all the community members he had conveyed to HM that the refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 wanted to honour him during a special programme for granting special package of Rs 2000 crore by the PM Narendra Modi led government and asked the Union Minister to visit the district for the same at a convenient time. He said that the Home Minister has listened to the issues with keen interest and had assured to look into the aforesaid issues.
BDC Member Darshan Choudhary, Sarpanch Jagdish Bhatti, Sarpanch Roop Choudhary, Sarpanch Vijay Choudhary, Sarpanch Parkash Choudhary and Sarpanch Tejinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
