SAMBA, Feb 13: Apni Party provincial president, Jammu, and former Minister, Manjit Singh has demanded early Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a public meeting in Samba district, the former Minister said that “The administration has no contact with the people and it has resulted into the feeling of alienation among them for the last several years as there is no elected Government in place.”
On this occasion, dozens of people joined the Apni Party in presence of Manjit Singh . He welcomed the new entrants into the party and hoped that their joining would strengthen it.
While addressing the meeting, he said that “The Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a difficult phase in which the people have no political representation in the Government. The Government has collapsed on the ground and the bureaucracy is working from the comfort of their offices ignoring the ground reality.”
He said that the public miseries have increased many folds with rise in unemployment and sense of insecurity among the people.
“The people who cultivated land for decades are being displaced by the authorities. The bureaucratic rule has added more problems with their autocratic style of regime,” he said.
He, however, said that “The holding of Assembly elections is must in J&K to end the miseries of people and provide them their elected representatives and demanded restoration of statehood to J&K which had been downgraded into a Union Territory.”
Earlier, people highlighted their issues before the Apni Party provincial president, Jammu. Manjit Singh assured them that their developmental related issues will be highlighted before concerned authorities for early redressal.
Meanwhile, district president, Samba, Raman Thappa also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various issues.
