KATHUA, June 28: District Congress Committee, Kathua unit led by its president and former minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today conducted one day public outreach program at Panchayat Gobindsar.
While welcoming the initiative of All Party meeting by Central Government, Dr Sharma said that the same thing Congress was demanding since long and thanked Prime Minister for conducting All Party meeting at New Delhi where politicians from national and regional parties from J&K were called.
While welcoming the step, Dr Sharma said that elections should be conducted in J&K after restoration of full statehood, completion of delimitation process and land & job guarantee to locals . He also hoped that this meeting didn’t turned out to be hollow and pressed that GOI should fulfill the demands raised by Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad in the meeting.
Sharma further said that during past two years condition of people of J&K has worsened due to restrictions first and Covid afterwards. He requested LG administration to fairly compensate the business class, small scale industries, transporters, shopkeepers, unemployed youths and labourers especially who have lost their source of livelihood due to present situation.
He again requested government to think seriously about lakhs of daily wagers and pressed for their regularization and creating job opportunities for educated unemployed youths.
During interaction, Youth leader Arjun Singh apprised Sharma that their panchayat was suffering due to non-availability of drinking water and unscheduled power cuts. The locals alleged that UT Administration failed to provide basic facilities to the public.
Sharma gave a patient hearing to the people and assured that he will raise their genuine demands in front of Administration for early redressal.
