KATHUA, Feb 3: Former minister and State president of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Th Randhir Singh has demanded an inquiry into the incident of trapping of a leopard at Ghati village by some locals of the area.
The NCP leader in a statement here said that some locals of the area and environmentalists came to him today and narrated the whole episode. They told that ‘local mafia’ using locally manufactured jawlock trapped the wild animal who had strayed towards village from ‘Jasrota Wild Life Sanctuary’. Some people informed Forest and Wild Life officials about the trapping of animal. They rushed there and controlled the leopard by giving tranquilizer and took it away with them.
The locals of the area have demanded action against the people who had trapped the leopard. The NCP leader urged upon the Forest Minister Ch Lal Singh to hold inquiry into the matter and take action against those involved in the trap case.
