JAMMU, Dec 15: Reiterating his commitment to fight for empowerment of the youth and women to bring in holistic development in the society, the Congress candidate from Jammu East, Vikram Malhotra today hoped that the people would come forward in a big way and exercise their democratic right in his favour.
Assuring the electorate that he will continue to strive for their cause and work towards holistic development in the constituency in particular and the region in general, Malhotra appealed the people to reject the politics of caste; region and religion which is a serious threat to the unity and integrity of the State and the Nation.
Malhotra was addressing a series of corner meetings at Peer Mitha, Pacca Danga, Panjthirthi, Circular Road, Christian Colony, Bikram Chowk and other areas.
Stating that none of the elected representatives from this Assembly segment has taken concrete steps to ameliorate the youth, he added that he is vowed towards working for the betterment of the young lot by showing them the right path and providing them means of livelihood.
He further said that, if provided with an opportunity to serve the masses as elected representative in the Assembly, he will take up the issue and try to ensure that a concrete policy is framed that helps the youth find lucrative vocations.
Malhotra also laid stress over the need to empower the women and said that only Congress can give an atmosphere where the women get equal opportunities, feel safer and achieve heights in various fields.
Vikram Malhotra also assailed BJP, PDP, NC and other parties for playing divisive politics by dividing the people on regional and communal lines to gain political mileage.
