SAMBA, Dec 16: A function was organised to commemorate martyrdom of 2nd Lieutenant, Arun Khetarpal, by Samba Social Club and Samba Brigade here today.
SSP Samba, Rajesh Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. Mohita Sharma SDPO BariBrahmana special guests, while Pawan Kohli chairman MC Samba senior Army officers, prominent citizens and civil society members also participated in the event.
The chief guest and other members paid floral tributes to the martyr by offering flowers at the memorial.
Martyr Khetrapal was paid homage and great respect along with the entire band from the Samba Brigade. With the display of patriotism, everyone saluted the spirit of martyrdom at the memorial of the martyr. Arun was martyred at the age of 21 only while giving a befitting reply to Pakistan in the ‘Battle of Basantar’.
Arun Khetarpal was born on October 14, 1950. He joined the NDA in 1967 after completing his studies. His first posting was in 17 Poona Horse on June 13, 1971, but at the same time the dark clouds of Indo-Pak War started hovering and he was deployed in Samba sector where he attained martyrdom while fighting enemy troops.
Among others Club members, Sunil Gupta, Ranju Gupta, Ajay Singh, Sahil Sethi, Tony Singh were also present.
