Homage to Swami Vivekanand

Sir,
This has reference to Swami Vivekanand’s 183rd birth anniversary enthusiastically celebrated all over the country. He was a warrior Saint who made his mark on the world horizon in a short span of his life running less than 40 years. The nation experienced divine blissfulness with the incarnation of a towering saint like Swami ji during the course of going through the pangs of slavery. With his mesmerising spiritual address at the International forum of parliament of religions in Chicago he succeeded in sweeping the world opinion in favour of India and pulled out the country from defeatist mode of slavery. Prior to his proceeding to Chicago, he chose to undertake a comprehensive tour throughout the length and the breadth of the country for understanding the ground reality of common masses of the country. He was bewildered and moved by seeing the pitiable condition of the people in the remote rural areas suffering from scorching poverty and terminal diseases. On the spur of the moment, he pledged to dedicate his life for alleviation of sufferings and miseries of the common country men. He had a different view of spirituality and sainthood who mustered the courage to tell his contemporary mystics ‘Even if i am condemned to hell, i shall continue working for the poor without prejudice to their caste and religious faith.
His teachings are equally relevant in the prevailing socio economic scenario.  The true and real homage to Swami Viveknanda from all the countrymen shall be to turn focus on the people living below the poverty line and the youth losing direction in the glamour of consumerism driven fast life. This would certainly raise the country to the pinnacle of the glory.
Yours etc….
