JAMMU, July 9: The management and inmates of Home for Aged and Infirm, Ambphalla celebrated 117th birth anniversary of its founder Ram Nath Prabhakar by performing hawan-poojan in the morning.
On the occasion, clothes were distributed among the inmates and workers whereas cash incentives were also paid to each worker.
President of the Home, ID Soni, State Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, paid rich tributes to Prabhakar, who retired as headmaster and thereafter devoted his life in service of poor and aged destitute and infirm members of the society.
In his speech, Soni described Prabhakar as a great visionary who could foresee necessity of such a home for aged and infirm persons in the ever changing society. He was a well known social worker who made a significant contribution for care and upliftment of such needy and destitute persons.
Meanwhile, United Nation-India connect Pin was presented to VK Bhagotra, secretary of the Home for his outstanding contribution towards the welfare of elders by Padma Shri SP Verma, president, Gandhi Global Family, J&K, on behalf of UNIC for India and Bhutan.
The representatives of other social organizations like Swami Vivekananda Charitable Mission Hospital, J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra, Bal/Balika Niketan Ved Mandir, Indian Red Cross Society, Help Age India, Gandhi Global Family, Sewa Bharti, Association for Social Health in India, Gao Raksha Samiti, J&K Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens as well as some donors attended the function.
Besides, patron BB Gupta, Managing Committee members, Vijay Gupta, Nirmala Zutshi, Dinesh Gupta, Sakino Bano and RC Vaid also participated in the programme.
Vijay Bhagotra, Honorary Secretary conducted the proceedings of the function and also presented vote of thanks.
