JAMMU, Jan 15: Home Department accorded sanction to the constitution of the review boards for Kashmir and Jammu Divisions for reviewing the cases of convicts for remission of sentence as laid down in Para 54.2 of the Manual for Superintendence and Management of Jails in the State.
For Kashmir Division, the review board will be headed by DGP, Prisons Department as Chairman, Superintendent, Central Jail, Srinagar as members secretary and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, District Magistrate Srinagar, Director, Social Welfare Department Kashmir, Secretary J&K State Social Welfare Board, Dr Shazia Manzoor, Asstt Prof Coordinator, Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir, Nighat Shafi Pandit and Javed Ahmad of Humanity Welfare organization Helpline as members.
For Jammu Division committee, the review board will be headed by DGP Prisons Department as Chairman, Superintendent, Central Jail Kot Bhalwal as member secretary and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, District Magistrate Jammu, Director, Social Welfare Department Jammu, Secretary J&K State Social Welfare Board, Prof Rekha Chowdhary, Former HoD Political Science Jammu University, Sushma Choudhary, Senior VP ASHI, J&K and Satyal Pal Saraf from Viklang Chhatra Trust Akhnoor as members.
