SRINAGAR/ JAMMU, Dec 6: The 61st Raising Day was organized by the J&K Home Guards and Civil Defence organization of J&K Police to make citizens aware about the significance of Civil Defence besides highlighting the role of the volunteers and wardens of Home Guards during the crisis.

On this occasion, while complimenting volunteers for their unwavering support in the times of crisis, SJM Gillani, Commandant General Home Guards, CD and SDRF, reiterated that members of these organizations have consistently played an indispensable role in pursuit of their service to the society. He hoped that volunteers of these organizations will persist in their vital role in nation building with excellence.
At Jammu, a ceremonial function was held in the lawns of SDRF 2nd Battalion, Gandhi Nagar where Umesh Kumar Yadav, DIG Home Guards, CD & SDRF, Jammu was the chief guest. In his address to the contingents of the Home Guard and Civil Defence volunteers and wardens, Yadav highlighted the indomitable role of these volunteers for the national building and fostering communal harmony during the challenging times.
On this occasion, the greeting messages of President of India, Lieutenant Governor J&K, Union Home Secretary, Chief Secretary J&K, FC(ACS) Home J&K besides DGP J&K and Commandant General, HG/CD & SDRF were also read by Zahid Naseem Manhas, Commandant/ Divisional Commandant Home Guards, Jammu, congratulating the volunteers on the raising day besides recalling their selfless service for the nation.
The function was among others attended by Aijaz Ali, SP Staff Officer (Trainings), Area Commandants of Home Guards and Deputy Controllers Civil Defence of Jammu province besides officers/ officials of the Directorate of HG, CD & SDRF.
A similar function was held at SDRF Complex, Baghat Srinagar in which Firdous Iqbal, Divisional Commandant Home Guards Kashmir was the chief guest. Firdous congratulated members of these organizations and recalled that these volunteers/wardens have rendered selfless service to the nation and they have played an important role in harnessing community efforts during times of crisis.
