JAMMU, Sept 2: All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association (HGWA) today asserted the Government to fulfill their long pending demands including fixation of their salaries. The association also demanded that the State Home Guards be provided same benefits, as is available to their counterparts in neighboring Punjab and other States.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of Association president, Kamla Sharma, the speakers resented the negligent attitude of the State Government towards the long outstanding demands of Home Guards.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamla Sharma criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for not fulfilling his promise of conceding their (Home Guards’) demands before the imposition of code of conduct, made with the Home Guards. She also condemned Ministers, MLAs and MLCs for not taking up the matter of Home Guards in the just concluding State Assembly elections.
Reiterating the demands of the Home Guards like fixation of salary, re-engagement of dis-engaged Home Guards, re-employment in Railways or any other department keeping in mind the employees’ experience, the Association president said the State Home Guards are doing their assigned jobs with full dedication and hard work but the State authorities have no concern with the hardships being faced by them.
She said the Home Guards would be left with no option other than resorting to protest if their demands were not fulfilled before the State Assembly elections.
