JAMMU, Sept 30: All J&K Home Guards Association has urged the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to resolve the long pending and genuine demands of Home Guards of the J&K UT.
Talking to reporters here, today, president, Employees Joint Action Committee (EJACR) and Kamla Sharma, president, All J&K Home Guard Welfare Association highlighted various demands of the Home Guards which were overseen by previous government on one pretext or the other.
Kamla Sharma said that time and again their Association has approached all the quarters of administration right from Director General, Financial Secretary, Chief Secretary and the previous LG, G C Murmu also but to no avail. Except assurances and formation of Committees nothing concrete has been done till date in settling the demands of Home Guards.
The Association is demanding implementation of Supreme Court Order No 2759 of 2015 dated 11-03-2015 regarding regularization and fixation of salary of Home Guards as many states and UTs have already implemented the Court ruling in letter and spirit.
Kamla Sharma said that after formation of UT J&K Home Department now comes under the direct control of Central Government and same rules should be followed in J&K as in rest of UTs. The Home Guards should be paid monetary and other benefits as per other UTs, she added.
She said in UT Delhi Home Guards are getting wages at the rate of Rs 21,000 to Rs 23,000 pm including allowances and the Home Guards of J&K be also given the wages at par with them.
Further she demanded formation of policy for regularization of Home Guards and stoppage of usual break of six years in service as many of the Home Guards have rendered more than 20 to 25 years of selfless service and have always stood to the call of duty with full devotion.
Kamla Sharma also demanded implementation of Minimum Wages Act for Home Guards.
The Association also warned that in case the demands were not settled within 10 days the Home guards will be forced to come to streets.
