NEW DELHI: The Union Home Ministry has taken cognizance of reports of alleged Maoists threat to Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and badminton star Saina Nehwal for lending support to the martyrs of recent Sukma attack.
“The Home Ministry and the Government are aware of the development,” a source said. Recently both Akshay and Saina had lent financial support to the families of the deceased CRPF personnel. According to reports, the local units of banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) have criticized Akshay Kumar and London Olympics bronze medallst Saina Nehwal for extending monetary assistance to families of CRPF jawans killed in a Naxal ambush in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh in March.
