SRINAGAR, Dec 30: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan today stressed for “terror-free Jammu and Kashmir” at the earliest during a security review meeting held here today.
Mohan held a security review meeting of the top brass security apparatus in J&K at SKICC here and stressed for a robust security system to tackle the terror menace.

He emphasized the need to act tough against the terrorists, their supporters and anti-national elements so that the J&K is made terror free as soon as possible. The official reiterated the Government’s resolve of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
Mohan lauded the security agencies for working in close coordination in the decisive action against the terrorism in J&K.
An official said that other issues that came up for discussion during the meeting included continued anti-terror operations so that pressure is built up against terrorists and their supporters and infiltration threats along the Line of Control (LoC).
He stressed for round the clock vigil of the LoC so that infiltration attempts are terminated right there. He stressed for the intensified round the clock patrolling of the areas near the LoC.
The security officials briefed the Union Home Secretary about the counter-infiltration grid along the LoC. He was told that over the years it has been further strengthened and even the gaps have been plugged.
He was also briefed about the coordination between various security agencies operating in J&K. He was told that the coordination among the agencies has led to successful operations.
The Union Home Secretary was also briefed about the drug trafficking that is being used to fund terrorism in J&K. He was told that the security agencies and administration has acted tough against the drug peddlers and ensured that they are given maximum punishment and their properties made with drug money are being attached.
He was also briefed about the preparations being made to ensure that upcoming Republic Day passes peacefully.
The meeting was attended by the top officers, including General Officer Commanding of Srinagar based Chinar Corps Lt General Prashant Srivastava, GOC of Nagrota-based 16 Corps Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General Jammu, Anand Jain, Inspector General of Police (IGP)-Kashmir, V K Birdi, top officers of Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Intelligence Bureau and other agencies.
Union Home Secretary is chairing a key meeting in Srinagar tomorrow to assess key flagship schemes funded by the Government of India.
The meeting will also evaluate the progress of infrastructure and employment-driven projects, particularly those funded by the Centre. He is also taking overall review of the winter preparedness of the administration during the meeting.
