Homoeopathic doctors allege discrimination, seek creation of posts

Srinagar, Nov 1: Homoeopathic doctors from J&K today alleged that they are facing discrimination and are not getting a due share in the various recruitment processes that are carried out from time to time.
Addressing media persons here, the doctors said that the majority of them are unemployed while very few have been recruited through Public Service Commission or have been engaged under the National Health Mission (NHM).
Dr Mir Abid representing the Homeopathic doctors said that they are faced injustice and are not getting the due share for the last 10 years and there has not been any post creation in their speciality for the last several years. “Even if the posts were advertised, we do not get the equal share,” he said.
He said that there are around 400 Homeopathic doctors who have been registered in J&K since 2003. “Since then, only 37 doctors have been appointed through PSC, while as 10 doctors have been appointed under NHM, rest are unemployment while as many have over-aged now,” he said.
The aggrieved doctors said that being a part of AYUSH, they are being neglected for the last several years. “We are here to make the Government aware of the issues that we are facing and to make it clear that we are part of the system but we do not exist anywhere,” another unemployed doctor, Dr Irfan said.
The doctors rue that while the homoeopathic mode of treatment is followed around the world, “its specialists are being neglected in J&K and this system not being allowed to flourish here,” they said.
The doctors appealed to the LG-led administration to look into the matter and take measures so that the homoeopathic system flourishes in J&K.
