Homosexuality not a crime but shouldn’t be institutionalised: RSS Gen Secy

NEW DELHI,  Mar 18: RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabole, who had last evening said that homosexuality could not be treated as crime,  today qualified his statement, saying that preference for the same sex was not a crime but it should not be institutionalised.
‘’No need to punish, but to be treated as psychological case. Gay marriage is institutionalisation of homosexuality. It should be prohibited,’’ he said in a series of tweets. At the India Today Conclave yesterday, Mr Hosabole while replying to the question as to whether homosexuality was a crime as considered under Article 277 of IPC, had said, “Why should the RSS express an opinion on homosexuality?.
In our view, it is not a criminal activity as long as it does not come in the way of other people’s lives. One’s sexual preference is personal matter.”  “Sexual preferences are private and personal.
Why should RSS express its views in a public forum. RSS has no views on that. It is for people to have their say,’’ he had said.  However, Mr Hosabole today modified his statement, saying, ‘’Approach to homosexuality should be no criminalisation; no glorification either.’’  (UNI)
