This has reference to the news item ‘CS honours 28 meritorious girls’ DE Jan 25.
By awarding 28 meritorious and courageous girls for their exemplary performance in the field of academics, sports, arts and culture, the State Government has indicated its commitment towards welfare of girl child. This step will surely help these young girls to more with confidence and courage in their chosen fields of life. Besides, it will give a filip to the initiative ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi sometime back. The girls belonging to weaker and poor sections of society should be encouraged in every possible manner. This would raise their self esteem and status in the society. Once this happens, it will pave way for their empowerment and a dignified and secured life. It is suggested here that special coaching centres should be set up for providing them quality education in various disciplines. Only quality education can lead them towards empowerment.
