REASI, May 2: Acting tough against preparing and selling of hooch, Police today smashed a still in Ransoo area of Reasi district.
Acting on an information that one person namely Chaman Lal, son of Nanak Chand of Uchh, Tehsil Kalakote , District Rajouri, was indulging in the business of manufacturing and selling of hooch at village Kaintha and surrounding areas of District Reasi, Police Party conducted a raid in the forest area of Kaintha.
During the raid, Police Party found 60 litres of lahan, which was destroyed on the spot while 3 litres of hooch, still apparatus, pipes etc were seized. Before the Police reached the spot, the accused had managed to flee.
In this regard, a case FIR number 08/2020, under section 48(A) (E), 50 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Ransoo and investigation started. The overall operation was conducted by SHO Ransoo Insp Ajit Singh under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs, Reasi , Waseem Mehmood and ASP Reasi Surjeet Kumar Bhagat.
Meanwhile, a Police team of Police Post Talwara, led by SI Purshotam Kumar I/C PP Talwara, intercepted a bootlegger near Siar Baba Talwara and seized six liters of hooch from his possession. The arrested bootlegger was identified as Suram Singh of Narkote, at present Talwara Reasi. In this connection, case FIR number 46/2020 U/S 48 (a)/50 Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
