SAMBA, Mar 11: Department of Horticulture here today organized a district level event ‘Bagwani Mela’ at Vijaypur under the centrally sponsored scheme MIDH (Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture).
The programme was attended by over 400 farmers and orchardists where various departmental stalls displaying fruit samples from the fields of the district along with machineries available for farming on incentives were displayed.
Rohit Khajuria, DDC Samba was the chief guest while Chander Prakash, SDM was the special guest on this occasion.
Anil Kumar Gorkha, Chief Horticulture Officer, Samba apprised the farmer about departmental schemes and pressed upon them to take up horticulture to double their farm income.
Ashwini Sharma, DLSMS deliberated on various management practices to be followed in orchard. Representatives of allied departments were also present on the occasion along with Sarpanches and Panches of various panchayats.
