MENDHAR, Nov 14: The building of a Health sub-centre/ Dispensary at Nakka Manjhari, near the Line of Control in district Poonch has turned unsafe just within eight years of construction.
While the Health Department has not initiated any inquiry into the sub-standard work conducted on the building, the CMO Poonch, Dr Mumtaz Bhatti has claimed that he has sent the estimate for the repair of the building to the higher authorities in Jammu. He said that matter was in his notice as he earlier served as BMO Mendhar.
The building which was constructed in 2007 has developed cracks on the walls and even on the slab and the hospital staff and the patients hesitate to stay there.  This building has been declared unsafe by the R&B Department but the Health department is still using the same building and is reluctant to shift it to some other safer location.
It is pertinent to mention here  that head of the Dispensary, Javed Ahmed- senior Pharmacist had pointed out this issue during the meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti at Mendhar few months back  but no serious note of the issue has been taken by the Health Department. CMO Poonch, Dr Bhatti claimed that he was aware of the matter and has requested the Directorate to release funds for the repair of the damaged building.
