Hospitals asked to provide free medical aid to victims of rape, acid attack

JAMMU, Mar 23: The Principal Government Medical College Hospital Jammu has issued direction that all hospital should immediately provide the first aid or medical treatment free of cost to the victims of rape, acid attack and other offence covered under Section 326A, 376, 376B, 376C, 376D or Section 376E of the Panel code.
All hospitals, public or private, shall immediately provide the first aid or medical treatment free of cost to the victims of any offence covered under section 326A, 376, 376B, 376C, 376D or Section 376E of the Panel code and shall immediately inform the Police of such incident, said a circular, issued today by the Principal GMC Jammu.
The direction has been issued in reference to the Administrative Department circular number 01-HME of 2015 dated 16-03-2015 and in compliance with the order passed by the Supreme Court of India.
The circular also impressed upon all the Medical Superintendents/HoD community Medicine of the GMC to ensure compliance of these directions in letter and spirit.
