JAMMU, Mar 17: Various Sikh organizations from J&K have urged the AICC president Sonia Gandhi to take up issues of Sikh community from J&K in the current Lok Sabha session.
In a meeting of the Sikh bodies held under the leadership of Mohinder Singh from BKNSS, the members requested Sonia Gandhi to take the issues of Sikh community in the present session of Parliament and Rajya Sabha to attract the attention of the Government towards the genuine issues of the Sikh people of J&K UT.
The Sikh leader pointed out that Ayushman cards issued by the Govt are not being honoured by the empanelled hospitals in the Jammu and Kashmir and outside, with the result it is mere an eye wash and paper work because hospitals are not entertaining for surgeries and providing medicines/various kind of medical tests etc. Apart from it, poor people are not getting the benefit of scheme and it is requested to take up the matter with the Government at the appropriate forums.
Singh requested that Govt may defreeze 4 seats for the refugees of 1947 for J&K. He also demanded that Sikhs be given representation in J&K High Court, PSC and SSB.
The Sikhs bodies demanded full and final package of Rs 30 lakhs in favour of PoJK refugees/ DPs as recommended by the Joint Parliamentary Committee.
Those present in the meeting included Darbinder Singh (SAD), Rajinder Singh, Raja Singh, Ravinder Singh, Kulwant Singh, Gajan Singh and others.
