Hostel for all still a dream for JU students: ABVP

JAMMU, Oct 10: ABVP president, University of Jammu (JU), Shubam Amar today said that Varsity is celebrating its 50th year but still the facilities are not available to the students.
He said that after the completion of the 50 years of JU, hostel is still not available to all the needy students of the University and they have to get accommodated in the unsafe locations.
“It is a big problem for the students coming from far flung areas and economically weaker students and especially the girls students,” he said, adding they raised the demanded for new hostels many times and also urged the authorities to hire rented accommodation for adjusting the left out students, but least concern was shown towards their demands.
Secondly, he said that WiFi is available for free in Central University and Cluster University campuses but Jammu University has been charging Rs 1000 for the same. “Jammu University has refunded Rs 500 last year after the protests but our demand for the free WiFi in the University campus,” he added.
Thirdly, he said that there is no student representation in any body formed in Jammu University. He said if University failes this year to conduct students’ union election, no other election will be allowed to be conducted in Jammu University by students organizations as a protest.
