House completely gutted in fire, locals demand compensation

UDHAMPUR, Apr 11: A double storey house was completely gutted in an accidental fire at village Chtara in Moud Panchayat, under the jurisdiction of Udhampur Police Station, here last evening.
However, there was no loss of life or injuries in the fire incident even as the gutted building housed four families of sons of Romal Singh, owner of the house. Cause of fire could not be ascertained.
Reports said that blazes started from one corner of the house and soon engulfed the entire two- storey building. Locals rushed to the spot and evacuated the house members. However, the entire building was gutted and property worth over Rs 20-25 lakh was lost in the incident.
Meanwhile, former Councilor Preeti Khajuria along with Ashwani Khajuria and others visited the house and appealed to the Government to provide adequate compensation to Romal Singh and his family.
