SRINAGAR, Oct 3: A meeting of the Committee on Government Assurances was held here today under the chairmanship of MLA, Javid Hassan Beigh to review the Government Assurances given by the Health & Medical Education Department on the floor the House from time to time.
The Committee discussed the action taken by the department on the implementation of the Government Assurances contained in the 21st report of the Committee, besides reply submitted by the department.
Legislators, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Dina Nath Bhagat and Dr Krishan Lal attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions regarding how to improve the functioning of the department particularly in rural areas.
The Committee asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to utilize resources available in the department so that people of the State could get benefitted from the on-going schemes being carried by the department.
Raising the issues of dilapidated condition of buildings of health institutions in rural areas, the committee also called for posting of adequate medico and para medico staff in these health institutions.
They also highlighted the issues including early completion of all on-going works on PHCs, proper functioning of X-ray, ultra sound, laboratories and other equipments, dispose of all waste materials lying in the hospitals and proper cleanliness in and around of health institutions.
Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Dr Pawan Kotwal briefed the committee about the action taken by the department on the Government Assurances.
